Fingal Orienteering Club

The list of risks identified and procedures to manage these risks are contained in the following categories:
Club and Coaching Practices.
Complaints & Discipline.
Use of Facilities.

Each risk that has been identified should have a procedure in place to manage that risk.
The Risk Assessment was undertaken in January 2020.
A template of the risks that were discussed at a Fingal meeting can be found here:
Risk Assessment IOA
This is a Sport Ireland / IOA template.
All the questions were discussed at a Fingal O meeting and the committee are satisfied that there are procedures in place in Fingal O to deal with any Child Protection issues.
Our Child Safeguarding Statement has been developed in line with requirements under the Children First Act 2015, (the Children First: National Guidance, and Tusla’s Child Safeguarding: A Guide for Policy, Procedure and Practice). In addition to our Risk Assessment document described above, there are further procedures that support our intention to safeguard children while they are availing of our activities.
Fingal Orienteering Club has the following procedures in place as part of our Safeguarding Policies:
Procedures for the management of allegations of abuse or misconduct by staff or volunteers against a child availing of our activities.
Procedures for the safe recruitment of staff and volunteers to work with children in our activities.
Procedures for access to child safeguarding training and information, including the identification of the occurrence of harm.
Procedure for reporting of child protection or welfare concerns to Statutory Authorities.
The above procedures are contained in the IOA Code of Ethics and Good Practice for Children’s Sport, which can be found here:
